Gingerbread

Decorate gingerbread cookies to use for gifts and always serve them during the holidays.”

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon each ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda Red-hot candies

Christmas sugar cookies

A crispy vanilla cookie to cut out and decorate.

  • 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (11/2 sticks) butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Colored decorating sugars

Sift flour and salt onto wax paper. Beat butter or margarine, sugar and egg in large howl of electric mixer at high speed 3 minutes, or until fluffy; blend in vanilla. Stir in flour mixture to make a stiff dough; wrap in wax paper; chill 3 hours, or until firm enough ...

Quick cookies

These have long been an Elcik family favorite.  John and Michelle like to make them together to give as Christmas presents. 

Place together:

4 cups of sugar
½ lb. Butter
1 cup milk
½ cup powdered coca
 

Boil above for 30 seconds., then Add:

6 cups rolled oats
2 cups peanut butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
 

Drop on waxed paper.

Makes 5 dozen cookies.
